Deben Rowing Club
Deben Rowing Club is situated on the river wall in Woodbridge overlooking a beautiful stretch of the River Deben. The river rises at Debenham in Suffolk and flows south east through Woodbridge, where it becomes a tidal estuary before entering the North Sea at Felixstowe Ferry.
Most of our crews head downstream towards the historic village of Waldringfield, past Kyson Point, Martlesham Creek and Methersgate Quay. We occasionally stop off for coffee at the infamous Maybush Inn. For the more adventurous, you can keep going to The Rocks. You can also head upstream past the Tide Mill towards Wilford Bridge.
We offer a broad range of rowing experiences in a fun and social environment, providing a safe and supportive community for members to achieve their rowing ambitions. We currently have over 100 diverse members, (a mix of all ages, complete novices to experienced professionals and a handful of life members), but we are always looking for more people to join us.
You can also find us improving our fitness by training on Wednesday evenings or participating with nearby sports clubs and groups. We also like to support the local community and fund our local pubs after a long session!
Our main objectives are:
• To be an open club for rowers of all abilities and backgrounds
• Encourage social behaviour and networking within the club and Suffolk
• To develop individuals' sculling and rowing ability, and fitness; provide opportunities; and support their progression
• To maintain a positive reputation and legacy
We hope you’ll find everything you need to have a great experience with Deben Rowing Club.
